Indicators
In a workbook a value is entered, consolidated, checked and then noticed, and a red figure can sit unseen for a month in between. Here a value scores the moment it is entered.
Drawn from the platform.
What changes
A value scores the moment somebody enters it, against the thresholds that applied to that unit at that moment. Nobody waits for a workbook to be consolidated to find out that a number went red.
A correction is a new version, and the earlier one stays on the record with the reason it changed.
In detail
Each indicator hangs off the risk it measures, and its thresholds put the appetite for that risk into numbers: green, amber and red, running in one of three directions (higher is better, lower is better or within a range). Collection runs in cycles with a defined open and close (monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annual), one line per indicator per unit and a value needed outside a cycle can be captured at any time.
A submission scores as it is entered. Thresholds, targets and owners can differ from unit to unit, and a submission is scored against that unit's own set.
Nothing overwrites a submission: a correction is a new version, and the earlier one stays with the reason it changed. The number the board saw last quarter is still there, with the one that replaced it and the reason.
The evidence it leaves behind
Every submission and every correction is a versioned entry with its reason, and an auditor can reconstruct the band a value was scored into from the submission alone. How the record is protected
